The new via ferrata was built in 2022 by the Osttirol Mountain Hunters. With a length of 650 meters and an elevation gain of about 220 meters, the route climbs high up in the air, directly above the rushing waters of the Galizenklammbach. The via ferrata requires a certain amount of strength and endurance. The real highlight, however, is the “Mountain Warrior” variant, an extremely difficult via ferrata featuring a tricky overhang that can be navigated depending on the technique and skill level of the climber.
Difficulty: Start at grade E, then C/D in places, a longer section at D, and a section at C in the upper section. On the secured descent, difficulty reaches up to C!
Approach: The approach is via the Galitzenklamm via ferrata (C).
Descent: From the highest point of the via ferrata through steep forested terrain, which is, however, fully secured with ropes all the way to the viewing platform.
Special features: The “standard ascent” features an impressive, exposed route. The “Mountain Warrior” variant is unique—an extremely difficult via ferrata (E/F) with an imposing overhang—and only for those with truly strong forearms!
