Guided ranger hikes in the Ködnitztal Valley in Kals take you right into the realm of the ibex, chamois and eagle.
Equipped with spotting scopes, binoculars and snowshoes, you can join our rangers into the wintry landscape directly at the foot of the Großglockner in East Tyrol. If you want to watch wild animals in the National Park, this ranger hike is for you. Our rangers cannot guarantee a sighting of chamoises and ibexes, but with around 200 ibexes, the wilderness of the Hohe Tauern National Park boasts the largest single population of these proud "mountain goats" in East Tyrol.
The starting point is the Glocknerwinkel car park directly at Lucknerhaus in Kals at 1920 m above sea level. Depending on the snow and avalanche situation, the rangers will guide you through the larch forest up to the tree line - to view the impressive snow-covered and steep rock formations of the Glockner Group and Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner.
